Volkswagen's entry-level 2025 Taos compact SUV is redesigned with more style, technology, and spirited performance. VW engineers doubled down on the core strengths to deliver more quality and value at a lower price point. The upgrades promise to maintain the Toas competitiveness in the crowded small SUV segment.

With a bold new redesign, including a new front grille, a connecting light bar, and LED projector headlights, this year's Taos is noticeable on the road. The rear end adds to the latest design with connected taillights, an illuminated VW badge, and newly designed wheels with added flavor. The intent was to upgrade the entry-level Taos with upscale curb appeal. At first glance, it has a confident-looking demeanor and sporty character, which aligns with VW's new design philosophy.

Stepping inside, repeats the upscale appeal with well-placed, high-quality materials and a simple and user-friendly dashboard. The climate controls, infotainment, and eight-inch touchscreen are easily accessible.

Power/Performance: The Taos is a small five-passenger SUV powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 174 horsepower and 184-lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission manages that. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard on most models, while 4Motion all-wheel drive (AWD) is optional and standard on the SEL model.

The Front-wheel-drive models have a simple torsion beam at the rear, while AWD models have an independent rear suspension for improved comfort and handling. It maintains a firm composure on the road with precise steering on sharp corners. The Taos performs and handles quickly and smoothly for a vehicle priced in this range.

Models/Price: The 2025 Volkswagen Taos offers five trim levels with either FWD or AWD versions. They include the S ($24,995), S 4Motion AWD ($26,695), SE ($27,895), SE 4Motion AWD ($29,595), SE Black ($30,145), SE Black 4Motion AWD ($32,845), and SEL 4 Motion AWD ($34,695) MSRP.

The SE adds more features like dual-zone climate control. The SE Black has a sporty, dark appearance over the SE, and the top-tier SEL trim includes advanced features such as VW's Digital Cockpit Pro and leather seating.
