The 2025 Honda Prologue Electric Vehicle (EV) is a compelling entrant into the electric vehicle market. After a week behind the wheel, I can confidently say it's a strong contender to competitors like the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Hyundai IONIQ 5, and Kia EV6. It was launched last Spring and boasts a driving range of 296 miles on a full charge. It combines advanced technology, sporty driving characteristics, and comprehensive charging solutions.
The Prologue Elite model I tested was well-equipped and priced at $57,900 (plus a $1,395 destination charge). However, this price doesn't include potential Federal EV tax credits, which could significantly lower the cost. A $7,500 Federal EV tax credit is available for all leased Prologues and for purchased 2024 Prologues manufactured after February 26, 2024.
The Prologue offers two powertrain options:
Single-motor FWD: 212 horsepower, 107 city/91 highway MPGe, 296-mile range
Dual-motor AWD: 288 horsepower, faster acceleration, 281-mile range
As soon as I drove off, I was impressed by the Prologue's sporty and engaging driving experience. Built on a cutting-edge electric vehicle platform (shared with the Chevy Blazer EV) featuring multi-link front and rear suspensions, the Prologue felt incredibly refined. The handling was responsive and precise, making it a pleasure to navigate winding roads. The ride quality surprised me; it was exceptionally smooth and comfortable, even on rougher roads. It was clear that Honda engineers had invested significant thought into optimizing the suspension.
The Honda Prologue, which carries over from last year with no new changes in 2025, comes in five different trim levels (All prices are MSRP):
Prologue EX FWD: $49,000
Prologue EX AWD: $52,000
Prologue Touring FWD: $54,000
Prologue Touring AWD: $57,000
Prologue Elite AWD: $60,000
Beyond performance, the Prologue excels in safety and convenience. The comprehensive suite of Honda Sensing safety and driver-assistive technologies provides a sense of confidence and security. The standard Google built-in system is intuitive and seamless, and the compatibility of the Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto makes staying connected a breeze. The wireless phone charger, 10-way power driver seat with adjustable lumbar support, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and SiriusXM satellite radio add comfort and enjoyment.
Recognizing that charging infrastructure concerns have hampered EV adoption, Honda prioritized the charging solutions for Prologue customers. This includes access to major public fast-charging networks like EVgo and Electrify America, with future access planned for Tesla's Supercharger network. Customers can select from three charging packages offering a combination of public charging credits, home charging equipment, and installation. Further bolstering charging availability, IONNA, a joint venture that includes Honda, will deploy 30,000 DC fast chargers by 2030.
