The luxury SUV landscape is no longer a European domain. Having spent a week with the 2026 Genesis GV80 3.5T Prestige AWD, it's clear a new player is setting benchmarks in the full-size luxury arena. The GV80 isn't just a contender; it's a thoughtfully evolved, technologically brilliant leader that redefines expectations for the segment. Last year's redesign was another leap forward for Genesis, sharpening its focus on passenger immersion and seamless tech and creating an SUV that feels both like a sanctuary and a command center.

The visual evolution is brilliant. The GV80 design has an athletic stance and intricate new alloy wheels. Inside, it's more futuristic, with an inviting cockpit. A major highlight is the new Connected Front Seat, which features a massive 27-inch OLED display for the passenger. It's no gimmick but a game-changer for co-pilots, enabling video streaming, calls, and navigation control without distracting the driver. Our test vehicle wore the new "Deep Forest" hue, a deep, complex green that perfectly complements the SUV's elegant lines.

Genesis continues to push the authentication envelope with its standard fingerprint system on upper trims, now handling payments and profiles. Expanded Over-The-Air (OTA) update capability ensures the vehicle continues to improve over time. But specs only tell half the story. The real magic reveals itself on the road.

The GV80 Prestige is a serene sanctuary in the urban jungle. State-of-the-art technology, such as the Preview Electronically Controlled Suspension, uses cameras to read the road ahead and proactively adjust to potholes and rough surfaces. In addition, the powerful 3.5-liter twin-turbo engine produces smooth and quick acceleration from a stop to go. Its 360-degree camera and Remote Smart Parking Assist automate parking.

The open highway is where the GV80 cements its actual performance. It transforms into a magic-carpet ride, gliding through traffic and isolating its passengers from outside traffic. The Highway Driving Assist II is one of the best I've tested. The Lane-Change Assist helps you easily change lanes.

Models & Pricing: A Tiered Approach to Luxury: The 2026 GV80 lineup offers multiple configurations to choose from:

Safety & Driver Assistance: The GV80 is an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ and a 5-star NHTSA performer. The Genesis Active Safety Control suite is standard. It features:

·       Highway Driving Assist II with improved Lane-Change Assist.
