This special edition 2025 Toyota Corolla FX is a stylish twist on the 1987 FX16, which is dressed in blacked-out trim with a low profile and an aggressive rear spoiler. It appears to be a sporty car, yet underneath the hood lies the same powertrain that powers the popular-selling Corolla.
New for 2025: Based on the Corolla SE model, the FX is all about aesthetics and tech with exclusive styling cues, including blacked-out roof, mirror caps, and badging; 18-inch satin-black alloy wheels, an FX-enhanced rear spoiler, lowering springs, a 10.5-inch touchscreen, and moonstone sport fabric seats with orange stitching.
Models/Pricing: The 2025 FX joins the Corolla family between the SE and XSE trims, and has a starting MSRP of $27,785, excluding destination fees. Other trim levels in the lineup include the base LE ($23,460), SE ($24,915), Hybrid LE ($24,900), Nightshade Edition ($25,915), Hybrid SE ($27,400), FX, the top-of-the-line XSE (28,040), and Hybrid XLE ($29,325).
Power/Performance: The sporty-looking FX shares the same 2.0-liter Dynamic Force inline-4 engine as the other Corolla models. It is quick on its feet and produces 169 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and electric power steering, giving it a sportier feel. Its stylish look sets it apart from the other models. It has more appeal and comfort and is fun to drive thanks to the low suspension and retuned steering.
Tech upgrades for 2025 include the 10.5-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, adaptive cruise, and a six-speaker audio system.
Safety: Toyota’s Safety Sense 3.0 system is standard on the FX, with Pre-Collision and Pedestrian Detection, Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Road Sign Assist, and Automatic High Beams.
Fuel Economy: The FX averages 31 city/39 highway mpg. If fuel economy is your priority, consider the Corolla hybrid that achieves a combined 53 mpg.
