2025 Ford Expedition Tremor—A Family Affair

The 2025 Ford Expedition Tremor is a massive three-row SUV engineered for all types of road surfaces, including city streets and off-road terrain. It is the undisputed champion for large families, whether on grocery and school runs or long adventures on the highway and off-road.
Having just emerged from a seven-day test in the 2025 Ford Expedition Tremor, I can confirm that it is a compelling, all-around SUV with the latest safety and performance features.
Refreshed for 2025, the Expedition has a bolder look with redesigned wheels, an upright grille, and C-shaped LED headlights. The interior now has a 15.5-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen with Ford's SYNC 4A infotainment system.
Although the Expedition offers eight different models to choose from, the Tremor focuses on off-road capabilities. It is positioned between the standard 4x4 models and the ultra-hardcore, desert-racing Raptor variant.
All trims feature a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter six-cylinder EcoBoost engine that generates 440 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. The engine is incredibly smooth and responsive for a vehicle of this magnitude, and it can tow up to 9,000 pounds. The 10-speed automatic transmission operates seamlessly.
The Expedition family of vehicles includes the STD 4X2 ($55,000), XLT 4x2 ($60,000), Timberline 4x4 ($68,000), Limited 4x2 ($70,000), Tremor 4x4 ($74,000), King Ranch 4x4 ($78,000), Platinum 4x4 ($80,000), and the Platinum MAX 4x4 ($83,000). All MSRPs are estimated starting prices before destination, taxes, and options.
The Tremor also features an off-road-tuned suspension with monotube shocks for improved control over rough terrain, as well as an electronic-locking rear differential for enhanced traction when only one wheel is in contact with the ground. Additionally, it excels on the highway, thanks to 33-inch all-terrain Goodyear Wrangler Territory tires, designed to handle both off-road and paved conditions. You can switch between various drive modes, including on-road and off-road conditions, such as Sand and Trail Control.
The Expedition continues for 2026 with the same engine, producing an estimated fuel economy of 15 city/22 highway mpg.
Safety features in the test vehicle include standard crash alerts, a child safety system, a perimeter alarm, and a rear occupant alert. Optional equipment includes Ford's Co-Pilot 2.0 and Blue Cruise.
