I recently had the opportunity to test drive the 2024 F-150 Lightning Supercrew, Ford's all-electric version of its iconic pickup truck. Launched in 2021, it received several updates for the 2024 model year, including improved battery technology, enhanced connectivity features, and some tweaks to its design for better aerodynamics. The 2024 F-150 Lightning Supercrew, with the new extended-range battery, delivers 563 horsepower, making it one of the most potent electric trucks on the market. Although sales have doubled yearly, Ford decided to reduce production due to the overall slowdown of EV sales among consumers. The Ford F-150 Lightning comes standard with two electric motors and all-wheel drive, which combine to produce 452 to 580 hp. It races from 0 to 60 in just 4 seconds. Although the torque is 775 lb-ft, the amount of horsepower depends on the battery. The F-150 Lightning also has a standard battery that averages 230 miles and 426 horsepower. The extended-range battery produces 563 horses with an advanced lithium-ion battery pack that can travel up to 300 miles on a full charge. This makes it suitable for long-distance driving, heavy hauling, and everyday electric-only driving. Models/Price: The 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning has six trim levels, suitable for different preferences and budgets. The base models come with essential features, and the higher-end trims have more luxury amenities and advanced technology packages. Prices start at $57,090 for the base Pro model and go up to $100,090 for the top-of-the-line Platinum Black Extended Range model. The test vehicle’s base price was $96,874, and the destination was $1,795. There are three cab options available for the Lightning: Regular Cab, which seats three passengers and offers 6.5- and 8-foot beds; SuperCab, which seats up to six with rear bench seats; and SuperCrew Cab, which seats six with front and rear bench seats and a 6.5-foot bed. The F-150 Lightning has many of the same exterior and interior features as the regular F-150. However, there’s no engine under the hood, which can be used as a trunk for cargo. It also has an extra-large infotainment display. One of the most significant features of the F-150 Lightning Supercrew is its ability to tow up to 10,000 pounds. MPGe: The EPA MPGe (Miles Per Gallon Equivalent) rating for the 2024 F-150 Lightning standard range is 76 city/61 highway, and the extended range is 78 city/63 highway.
